Description:
A516 Gr65 is a medium-strength carbon steel plate that meets the ASTM A516 standard. ASTM A516 is a standard developed by the American Society for Testing and Materials. It is specifically designed for carbon steel plates for pressure vessels and provides four grades: Grade 55, Grade 60, Grade 65, and Grade 70. A516 Gr65 is one of them. The "65" in its name indicates that the minimum tensile strength of the material is 65 ksi (about 450 MPa).
Compared with other grades under the ASTM A516 standard, A516 Gr65 is in the middle of the performance. Compared with Grade 55 and Grade 60, Grade 65 has higher yield strength and tensile strength, which is suitable for the manufacture of equipment that requires higher strength; and compared with Grade 70, Grade 65 has slightly better toughness and balance, especially in low-temperature occasions. Therefore, choosing A516 Gr65 can achieve a good balance between strength, toughness and processing performance.
