304L stainless steel plate is a low-carbon stainless steel plate that reduces the carbon content on the basis of 304 stainless steel plate, thereby reducing the risk of intergranular corrosion after welding.
The main chemical components of 304L stainless steel plate include elements such as iron, chromium, nickel, molybdenum and manganese. Among them, the content of chromium is relatively high, which can improve the corrosion resistance of 316 stainless steel plate.
What do 304 and L mean in 304L stainless steel plate?
"304" represents a chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steel, namely 18-8 stainless steel. In other words, this stainless steel contains 18% chromium and 8% nickel. Chromium can enhance the corrosion resistance of stainless steel, while nickel can improve the mechanical strength of stainless steel, and also has certain corrosion resistance.
"L" is the abbreviation of "low" in English, which means low-carbon stainless steel. In 304L stainless steel plate, L represents that the stainless steel plate has a low carbon content. In other words, the carbon content of low-carbon stainless steel is less than 0.03%, which has better corrosion resistance, weldability and intergranular corrosion resistance than normal stainless steel plates.
