Description:
317L is a molybdenum-containing, low-carbon austenitic stainless steel with additional chromium, nickel, and molybdenum added for better corrosion resistance and increased chemical attack resistance to sulfite, acetic, formic, citric, and tartaric acids.
Due to its low carbon content, 317L also offers resistance to sensitization when welding, as well as higher creep, rupture stress, and high-temperature tensile strength. It is nonmagnetic in the annealed condition, but may become slightly magnetic after welding.
