316L stainless steel effectively resists atmospheric corrosion, moderate oxidizing and marine environments, while maintaining strong resistance to intergranular corrosion in the welded condition. 316L is known for its great strength and toughness at low temperatures, and remains non-magnetic when annealed, but can exhibit slight magnetism after extensive cold working.
